Story
I have run the 2011 London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK Crewe Branch.
I ran my first marathon in London in 1998, finishing in just under 4 hours, and the following year went back again and set my personal best of 3 hours 47 minutes over the 26 and a bit mile course.
I now have an alarming 9 marathons under my belt (7 London and 2 New York).
This year I ran with my 68 year old Dad, who last ran the London Marathon in 1983. He told me that this was definitely going to be his last marathon, so, having watched him run his first, nostalgia and fate dictate that we should run this one together. We both crossed the finish line simultaneously after a stately 6 hours 28 minutes and 47 seconds.
I ran for Parkinson’s UK, as, like many people, I have had a close relative who has suffered from the disease, and I have also got to know through my job the great work their local Crewe branch does in raising both money (£40k last year alone) and awareness of Parkinson’s. I wanted to help them build on their excellent efforts.
Thank you for any support you can give!
